William Simpson Pearson (1849-1920) from Morganton, NC, entered the University in 1864 and was president of the Dialectic Society from April 2 to May 8, 1868. Pearson received his degree in 1868 and became an author, lawyer, and railroad commissioner. He served as a University trustee from 1905 to 1907.
